Our project
Nowadays stratospheric balloon missions play an increasingly important role for the international scientific community since the experiments can be hold in space-like environment with a significant reduction in costs, timelines and mission requirements. MISSUS is conceived as an innovative integrated multi-sensor scientific package dedicated to the characterization of the most significant environmental parameters of thin atmospheres (such as temperature, pressure, humidity) and to attitude and trajectory reconstruction. The goal is to collect meteorological and attitude data and validate the atmospheric models during the ascent, cruise and descent phases, basing on a synergic approach in the data analysis (data fusion). The flight provides an unique opportunity for testing the onboard innovative instrumentation, which will be designed basing on CISAS previous know-how on balloon flights and space missions (e.g HASI and SoRa); in addition, thanks to the characterization of the metrological sensors properties, a reference for sensors used in future missions on Mars (such as Exomars 2016) will be provided.
